Egg production varies by breed, but most hens lay about one egg per day once they start laying at around 18-22 weeks old. Peak egg production typically lasts for 3-4 years, with a chicken’s lifespan averaging 8-10 years.
The Smart Coop Base Model fits most yard sizes as long as you have space for its dimensions. Ideally, you should:
- Place the Coop under partial tree cover to provide natural shade.
- Orient the Automatic Door to face the North.
- Keep the Coop within 100-150 feet of a 2.4GHz network for seamless app connectivity.
- Ensure access to a hose for easy cleaning and water refilling.
Don’t forget to check your local and city ordinances for any specific chicken-keeping requirements.
The Base Model comfortably houses 4 to 6 chickens. It includes:
- 28 square feet of floor space.
- 2 cozy nesting boxes.
- 60 inches of roosting space.
