Snake Scare

The chickens are alive & well! This is nightmare fuel but I decided to share in case it helped someone else. These cameras helped us save Gertrude, but it was luck. The cameras don’t detect snakes. I just happened to check on the cameras when we got in bed and the snake had already been in the coop for an hour. I have 3 large breed hens and I underestimated king snakes trying to go after them (and not just their eggs). In the 5th video, you can see the snake managed to get on top of Gertrude and attempted to wrap around her. We removed the snake about 5 mins after that happened thankfully. I looked back earlier in the day and the snake was very interested in them then too. I wish the coop cameras would be able to detect snakes, but in the meantime I have added snake repellent to our predator protection. This was the night I truly felt like having these smart cameras paid off.
